Josef Bauer

Josef Bauer is an experienced executive in the automotive industry with over 25 years of industry experience, including 10 years in management positions. His expertise spans various key areas, including management, production, operations and mechatronics. Bauer places particular emphasis on effectiveness over efficiency and has successfully implemented EBIT improvement programs through the application of lean management, continuous improvement processes (CIP), best practices and lessons learned. 

In his current role as Managing Director at Pollmann International GmbH, a leading mechatronics supplier to well-known customers such as BMW, VW-Sitech and Bosch, he initiated turnaround measures and effectively implemented the PCIP Profit & Cash Improvement Program. His responsibilities include focusing on operational excellence, a lean offensive, KPI management and strengthening various business areas. 

Before working at Pollmann International, Bauer worked as a plant manager and commercial managing director at Nanogate SE, where he led restructuring and consolidation measures, secured profitability and prepared the company for a carve-out after bankruptcy. 

Bauer's professional career also includes leading positions at Carcoustics Slovakia sro, Leggett & Platt Automotive, Hirtenberger Automotive, Eybl International Romania and MAGNA Eybl / Intier. In these roles, he successfully carried out comprehensive restructuring, plant expansions and production relocations. His professional basis is a degree in mechanical engineering and automotive technology, supplemented by further training in lean management, Six Sigma and project management.
